So far I really enjoy the book "White Teacher". I chose it because I especially do not like racism and inequality. This seemed like a book that would touch on both of those topics. I really like how the author notes on sepcific moments that mae her uncomfortable. I can relate that a lot back to my own life. I like how she reacts and expresses how she knows her reactions are wrong but does not know how to change them. I also like how she relates the black children feeling uncomfortable to her own childhood and feeling incomfortable abouth her religion. The author does a very good job of trying to overcome her initial beliefs and I especially like how she goes out of her way to treat the children equally. I look forward to reading more of the book.
I like how the author keeps going into further details about her insecurities in the class room and with the children. I really like her interaction with Janet and how she looks to her for advice. The interaction also brings up more guilt for the author which is also interesting. She seems to have such a huge heart and she wants to do good but she seems to have trouble doing the be she can. No matter what, there always seems to be someoone missing out. I reallly like how the author notices her shortcomings and continally tries to better herself.
In the next section, the author realy gets the students to try to focus on their similaiies while bringing out their diferences. I like how she does this in a way that makes the kids feel comfortable with her and with each other. they are all growing and I look frwar o seeing moe of their growth throughoutthe book.
